The Rev. Anita M. Slovak and her husband, Johnny, came to Christ the King in 2016 from Duncan, Oklahoma, where Mother Anita was Rector of All Saints Episcopal Church. During a 15-year career in the Dioceses of Dallas and Oklahoma, she wore many hats, serving as a Business Manager, Director of Christian Education, Curate, Chaplain, Clergy Assistant and, finally, as a Rector. As a MDiv graduate of Southern Methodist University, our Rector is passionate about spreading the Gospel message, volunteering, community building and outreach ministries.
In Duncan, Mother Anita served as President of Christians Concerned; a United Way agency that provides temporary, emergency assistance to individuals and families in crisis. Leading by example, she also participated in several mission trips to Honduras, going beyond her church walls to serve as a disciple to others. Currently, Mother Anita serves on the Board of Interfaith Community Services (ICS), who’s Northwest Office resides on the campus of Christ the King. She also works personally with the Single Mom Scholar program at ICS.
Mother Anita brings extensive business and technological experience to our parish. Prior to receiving God’s call to the Episcopal Church, she worked for more than 20 years at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, where she was a Senior Business Analyst, trained in change management, human resources and staffing.
The family also includes two grown sons, Andrew and Matthew, both of whom reside in the Dallas Texas, and a Golden Retriever named Sanna.
