The Dates Have Been Chosen for our Annual Christmas Markets

The Christmas Market will be held on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weather permitting, we will use the spaces upstairs, downstairs and on the East Patio for displays by outside vendors, a big bake sale and wonderful items made by our CTK ministries and others. Breakfast and lunch will be served and the Dulcimer Singers will perform.   We hope that holding the Market earlier than in the past will lead to greater sales and more money for CTK projects! A Mini Market will be held for parishioners on December 10

Back to School Planning Starts Now for the Children in Aviva’s Care

Our backpack and school supply drive for Aviva Children’s Services will begin on May 28. This ministry is conducted in two phases. From now until June 11, your cash donations will enable us to purchase backpacks at wholesale prices. These will be filled with necessities later in the summer.

Please place your donation (in any amount) in an envelope marked “Backpacks.”  Checks should be made payable to Christ the King with “Backpack” written in the memo line. Donations may also be placed in the offering plate on Sunday or delivered to the church office. Last year, donations from our parish enabled us to purchase and fill 120 backpacks for deserving high school students in foster care.

If you have any questions about the services provided by Aviva or the school supply drive, please contact Lynn Speth at 520-742-9511

Sounds Like a Good Idea!

Members of the Sound Ministry group are responsible for running the soundboard: muting and unmuting speakers as needed during our services, adjusting volume and sound quality, recording the sermon and making sure all clergy members are furnished with fully-charged wireless microphones. We will provide training!

If you’d like to know more, please telephone Johnny Slovak at 488.7194 or Jim Casner at 370.6020.

Many Hands Make Light Work!

Regular landscape workdays keep our campus beautiful—and many hands make the workCtK by Fr Jeff lighter! We garden for a few hours on the third Saturday of each month, beginning at 9 a.m. Please wear sunscreen and  bring a sun hat, water, gloves and your favorite small gardening tools. All are welcome!

Questions? Call Bill and Nanette Cosart at 326.7060.

Monthly Potluck Promises Good Food and Fellowship

A simple “potluck” luncheon is held immediately following the 10:30 service on the third Sunday of every month.  Each month– with the exception of those Sundays when a Newcomers’ Reception is scheduled–a different ministry group hosts the event.  The luncheon provides a great opportunity for fellowship and a chance to meet the parishioners who are active in the host ministry! To facilitate planning, please use the family attendance sheets (provided on the patio on the first Sunday of the month) to let us know you will be present and if you can bring bread or a dessert to accompany the simple entree and beverages provided by our host group.  Sonja Fritton coordinates the Third Sunday luncheons, but helpers are always needed to set up the tables with food and drink.

There’s Always Something Interesting to See in Our Creations in Art Gallery!

Located in the Library, Christ the King’s Creations in Art gallery is open every Sunday from 9:00 am till 12:30 pm., except for the months of June, July and August. The gallery features the work of parishioners and, occasionally, interesting work by other local artists. Christ the King receives 20% of all Gallery sales. Visit the gallery page for information about current and coming exhibits.

Don’t Forget to Check Out the Youth News Page!

Under the Youth News tab on this web site, you’ll find a description of our robust Christian Education program, ongoing and upcoming youth-centered activities and ways you can help support these important members of our parish in their work and play.

Aerobics Classes at Christ the King

People of all ages are welcome to join aerobics classes in the undercroft at Christ the King on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Two classes are held on each of these days–an advanced class from 9:00 till 10:00 and a session for those new to the program from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. Both are led by Carmen Hemrick, a long-time aerobics instructor, who volunteers her time so that class fees ($25 per month for CTK members) come directly to our parish. Drop in at class time or call Carmen at 579.2143 or 907.2695 for details.

. . . and gentle Hatha Yoga Classes, too! Yoga is a system of exercises that helps the mind and body achieve tranquility and spiritual insight. Classes are held at Christ the King on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 12:15. If you are interested, please contact Ellen at 907.4093 or email her at: doingyoga@yahoo.com.
