History
1964 May St. Philip’s in the Hills as mother church holds meetings to form nucleus of Chapel of Christ the King: The Rev. George Ferguson, D.D., Rector; the Rev. William Perry and the Rev. Thomas Leonard, assistants.
1964 Sep. First worship service held in cafeteria of Harelson School.
1964 Oct. Architect Gordon Luepke completes master plan for chapel. Ground breaking ceremony held on 10 acres on Ina Road, donated by Mrs. Raymond Fowler.
1965 Sep. Newly completed building opened for regular worship services.

1966 Nov. Dedication services conducted by Rector Dr. Ferguson, assisted by Fr. Thomas Leonard.
1967 Library room completed.
1969 Fr. Leonard named Vicar of the Chapel.
1970 Sexton’s house completed.
1971 Independent parish status plans initiated. Fundraising initiated toward $125,000 goal.
1974 Fund raising successfully completed
1974 Nov. Diocesan Convocation votes to accept Christ the King’s self-supporting parish status.
1975 Oct. The Rev. Gregory Wyes joins staff.
1977 Nov. Fr. Wyes appointed Priest-in-charge following resignation of Fr. Leonard.
1978 Apr. Fr. Wyes installed as Rector. The Rev. Clarence (Bud) Odell joins staff until 1981.
1978 Oct. Dedication and Blessing of the Memorial Garden.
1982 Jun. The Rev. David Roseberry joins staff until July 1984.
1987 Nov. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Apthorp joins staff until April 1992.
1990 Jun. Dedication of new office building. (Phase II)
1990 Nov. Dedication of remodeled Memorial Garden.
1991 Nov. Dedication of Bell Tower.
1992 Mar. Dedication of Allen Organ.
1993 Jan. Blessing of the Bell in the Tower by Bishop Robert R. Shahan.
1994 Mar. Vestry establishes committees to explore Building Phase III.
1996 Mar. Capital Stewardship Campaign raises $765,000.00 in cash and pledges.
1997 Mar. Groundbreaking for Phase III.
1998 Jan. Completion of Phase III.
2002 Apr. Fr Wyes retires and is replaced by Fr Haugh (interim priest-in-charge)
2004 Feb Fr Smith is called as rector
